While working at the Michigan Community Service Commission from June 2021-August 2022, I worked on the 2020/2021 Governor's Service Awards project. Through this project, I vetted dozens of Michiganders who were nominated for going above and beyond to their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this project, I also ran the MCSC social media accounts to promote the project and search for additional nominees. Once we finalized our ten nominees, I wrote about each finalist for the website and the award program. Before starting this position, I had never worked on a social media or web campaign of any sort, so the initial amount of work that went into the nomination and vetting process was surprising. However, I am grateful that I was able to help highlight these change-makers and all the important, impactful things they did during the pandemic.
